8th day of Christmas

This day was especially fun for the kids. We had breakfast with Santa at Codorus. There were yummy pancakes and lots of smiles.

In the evening, the Christmas fun continued. I am just like all the other parents who enjoy the holidays because of their children's performances. It was such a joy to watch Angelia in the Nutcracker for the last few years, and it was SO SAD to not have her performing this year. She's an ol' married lady now in Florida. I couldn't even bring myself to go see The Nutcracker this year. Looking back, I wish I would have. It would have made my heart smile to go see all her friends backstage afterwards. Darn....wish I would have thought of that.

Christmas brings us another performance now as well. This was Josh's third piano recital. I so look forward to this since I hear him practicing every day. He usually plays two or three songs, but this year he gave us an extra special treat. Typically his piano teacher, Miss Pat, accompanies the younger students on at least one or two of their pieces. She did the same this year, but Josh also played one by himself, The Carol of the Bells. This was exciting to us because he played the song by ear. He never had the music to play by. She would just show him a little each week and then he would practice it all week. The funny thing is, he plays the song without the music MUCH faster than the songs he has music for. I know absolutely NOTHING about music so maybe this is normal. I just found it amazing that he could memorize like he did. We are so proud of you Josh. Every year you get better.

Turn off my music & listen to Josh playing at the recital.

Afterwards, Miss Pat has a little get-together for the kids in a room at the church. They enjoy all kinds of treats and a cake with everyone's name on it. They have a nice time. Thanks Miss Pat! Lonnie's parents came to watch, but had to leave afterwards. My parents came as always & had a great time.

I get so annoyed by music on blogs -- Sorry! I couldn't get it to turn OFF. Tried to hear Josh's playing through the annoying background music! You have reason to be proud! Where does he get his musical talent?
