Tiger Woods

Lonnie had a dream come true the week of the 4th thanks to my parents. They invited us to go with them to a professional golf tournament sponsored by TIGER WOODS!! Lonnie loves to golf & loves to watch Tiger. It was SO nice of them to take us. Uh....we got rained on there as well. If you are reading these posts in order you will know that just the day before we were rained on MANY times. I thoroughly enjoyed the tournament even more than I thought I would. I don't enjoy watching sports on TV very much, but watching them live is GREAT!! Unfortunately, it is very expensive to go to professional sporting events. Lonnie completely spoiled me when we were dating. He was always taking me to see the Phillies, the Orioles, the Sixers, the Bullets, or the Bears. My favorite was when he took me out to Notre Dame for a college football game. That was awesome. It's a whole experience in itself. The spirit of the place & the students was amazing. Anyway, thanks Mom & Brad for the great golf day!

Because of how quiet you must be for most of the golf game, I was struck by a neat thought: how thousands of people will come out to watch & be in the presence of greatness. To be a professional athlete takes a lot of commitment & talent. We all know this. The feeling of watching someone actively live out their dreams is so neat. It's as if you are vicariously living out whatever your dream is or was. Watching someone live out their dreams because of HARD WORK, COMMITMENT & BELIEF is so inspiring. Brad said to me one day, "Everyone should have a dream." I truly do believe that. Tiger's father always said that he didn't want people to think Tiger was a great golfer. He wanted them to think his son was a great person. Tiger has done so much for kids. I think his dad's dream came true. The picture below is Tiger with his first child born just a few weeks ago. Now that is a dream come true for any parent.

The wettest 4th of July ever

Every boy HAS to do this

This summer Lonnie saw something at the store that he insisted that Josh HAD to have. I don't remember my brother using these, but Lonnie said he played with them as a kid, & Josh would love them: SMOKE BOMBS!

Lonnie lit the smoke bomb for Josh & said, "Throw it!"

Into the driveway it went!

It scared the booh out of Josh the first time he did it.

He taught Josh how to use the lighter, & had him light one of the bombs.

Then Lonnie whipped it into the driveway. It was a return to his childhood! He & Josh continued to play with them! I don't know which one of them liked it the most. From that point on everyone who came to visit had to see Josh throw a smoke bomb. He thought they were so neat.

we're off to Texas

Well, Lonnie & I will be headed to Texas tomorrow morning. No blogging for another week. When I ACTUALLY get to blog again there is going to be a computer blackout for the rest of the world because I'm going to be blogging so much. I didn't realize how much pleasure I get out of it. Writing is so therapeutic. Blogging is like gardening. I feel better after I do it. So.....enjoy your blogging & blog some for me.

so sad.....

I'm so sad. I have soooooo much to blog & can't do it or just REFUSE to do it till I have time to put the pics with it. This camera mess caused so much aggravation for me. Irrrrrrr!!!! And I thought I would like this blog template, but it's way too quiet for me. I need lots of color & excitement. It puts me to sleep. All that white reminds me of an insane asylum. I hope you are all laughing because I really cracked myself up with that one. giggle.

Josh & his cousins!!

Josh had a blast playing with his cousins, Drew & Austin, from Lancaster. He doesn't get to see them much & he LOVES them!! They are such great kids. The boys always have a good time together & get along so well. All the boys were visiting Papaw when he was staying at his sister & brother-in-law's house (Pat & Mike) while he was recuperating from his heart transplant. I am so happy that Josh was able to visit with the boys while they were visiting Papaw.

I have to say our family had some exciting news this week!! We had another car winner in my Mary Kay unit!! In my business the consultants are like my extended family. They get to know my family & we truly love them. In this business, everyone has the opportunity to win free cars. The kind of car you receive is in direct proportion to how hard you work. There is a car for consultants & 2 cars for directors. Our family has been blessed to earn 3 cars in the last 5 years. This has been such a blessing to our family because it has saved us so much money. It saves us from the expense of having a car payment. Mary Kay also pays for my inspections & registrations every year plus almost all of my car insurance. I cannot even say how grateful I am for this job that allows me to work from home & still be able to take care of my family. It's very hard for moms to help out financially & be home at the same time. But this week something EXTRA exciting happened! Rita Zimmerman, one of the consultants in my unit, earned a Pontiac Vibe. I am so happy for her!!! She & her team worked for it & deserves it. I have waited for this day in great anticipation. It never mattered to me how many cars I won if my consultants did not win cars as well. Mary Kay always told us "To pass it on." My job as a sales director is to help others achieve their dreams. I think it's one of the greatest jobs in the world. I am just SO EXCITED & I had to share!! Now........who do I help to win the NEXT car????

Rita's vibe will be RED!!

Josh & the game ball

(check back for picture later-still having camera issues!!)
Josh's baseball team, The Pirates, had a 7 & 3 season this year!! They won 7 games in a row. The kids were on a streak & were headed to the playoffs. Unfortunately, last Wednesday the streak came to a sad end at that playoff game & The Pirates lost. There were a lot of tears shed, especially for Josh. He was really disappointed.

Josh's coach gives out a game ball at the end of each game to a player that he feels played exceptionally well that game. On a happy note, the game prior to the playoffs Josh played a GREAT game & received the game ball. He had wanted it so much & had worked hard all season to get it. That night at dinner as he said the prayer, he asked Heavenly Father to help his team do well & to earn the game ball. Josh truly believes the Lord answers prayers. He told me when he goes up to bat he says a silent prayer that he doesn't strike out. But the dearest moment of all, came as we all walked off the field. Josh's Papaw (Bernie) had been so ill during Josh's baseball season. He RARELY ever missed any event his grandchildren were participating in .....especially sports. It was hard for Josh to not have his Papaw at his games. Thankfully, Bernie was able to attend a few of Josh's last games. So at the game where Josh received his first ever game ball, he proudly announced, "I'm not keeping the game ball. I'm giving it to Papaw." Lonnie & I & my parents who were also there, were all so moved by Josh's love for his Papaw. Needless to say, when Josh gave it to his Papaw, Bernie's eyes filled with tears.

Angelia & Brent's BIG announcement

Brent, Leah's boyfriend, went to EFY as well. He too, got a renewed testimony of the church. This is such a blessing. The reason it is such a blessing is that Angelia & Brent got engaged!!!!!!! They announced it when they got back from camp. We truly love Brent & couldn't be happier about the person that Leah has picked to be her future husband. That sounds so WEIRD!! For goodness sake, she just graduated people!! How can we be talking about marriage??!! Well, at one time EVERYONE got married young & NO ONE thought it was weird. AND those people are still married. Now everyone dates 1000 people, then lives together first, and THEN gets married & THEN gets divorced. Even though they're young, they know who they love & they know who loves them back. That's a wonderful thing. I have prayed for years that Angelia would find her eternal companion early in life. God obviously thought that was a prayer to be answered. Thanks Lord!
